Dussehra is celebrated in September or October and marks the end of Durga Puja where the goddess Durga overcame the buffalo demon and is celebrated by Hindus from the east, northeast and southern parts of India. For those in the north and west it marks the end of the Ramlila celebrating Rama defeating Ravana. The festival continues to be an important event in the Hindu calender and for Scottish Indians.
