Throughout the project, Rodrigues has pictured important monuments and places in Scotland that hold a link to the South Asian subcontinent. A largely unknown history, the buildings and monuments were significantly influenced by the experiences of the British stationed in the South Asian subcontinent. Similar to the colonial architecture prevalent throughout the subcontinent today, Scotland’s landscape is beautifully marked by South Asian influences through infrastructure and physical form. These images also highlight the relationship between the South Asian diaspora and the Scottish environment. Peace island just off of North Ayrshire formerly held a yoga retreat now known as Wee Cumbrae.
